The Lady On The First Floor

FILM NOIR PHOTOGRAPHY

Living in France, in a building from the early 18th century (a watermill), there is a lot to explore. Although the main buildings are renovated in fancy tourist apartments, there are still spooky addicts, dark alleys and humid basements.
For this series “the lady on the first floor” I shot most of the pictures on the first floor of the main building and in the alleys under it. I used the rules for the ‘film noir’: a low camera position, heavy shadows and diagonal lines to create the special atmosphere. And as always I’m my own model. Sometimes twice in the same picture.
I like the silence of working on my own, of playing, creating and thinking, of trying and doing.
I had fun making this series and I hope that it will give you a smile on your face.
